Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center
A Bachelor’s Degree is required for admission to the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. A minimum of 3.0 cumulative and prerequisite GPA’s are required. The average GPA for the class entering in 2018 was 3.8 (cumulative GPA) and 3.7 (prerequisite GPA). The DPT program typically accepts 72 students each year.
Annual Tuition: $8,449 in-state, $18,559 out-of-state.
Texas Woman’s University
A Bachelor’s Degree is required for admission to the DPT degree program. Required Prerequisites should be completed before program begins with a grade of C or higher (recommended that no more than three are outstanding at the time of application).
Overall GPA above 3.0 (includes original and retake grades of all college courses) as calculated in PTCAS is required. Applicants need current BLS certificates in CPR and AED from the American Heart Association (before entering the program).
A required minimum of 80 hours observing 2 physical therapists from differently owned facilities (40 hours each).
Annual Tuition: $7,072 in-state, $14,542 out-of-state.
University of Central Arkansas
The professional DPT program requires a Bachelor’s Degree as well as specific prerequisite coursework. A minimum overall GPA of 3.00 and GPA of 3.00 in sciences are required. At the time of application a minimum of 22 of 31 hours of required prerequisite sciences must be completed.
The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) must also be completed as well as a minimum of 30 hours of observation of a physical therapist (at least 10 hours in each setting including a variety of two or more clinical settings).
Annual Tuition: $6,094 in-state, $10,901 out-of-state.
The University of Montana
Completion of a bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited in the United States (or the equivalent from another country) and the minimum grade point average (3.0 for both cumulative and prerequisite GPA) is required before applying for the program.
PTCAS application is needed along with $80.00 non-refundable supplemental fee. 7 out of 9 of the prerequisite courses need to be complete at the end of fall semester of application, including at least one course from both the chemistry and physics class sequences.
A minimum of 80 hours of volunteer or paid experience in at least three different practice environments, under the direction of a licensed physical therapist are required. Applicants require 3 letters of recommendation; at least one from a licensed physical therapist, professor and employer. GRE requirements are; GRE Verbal Reasoning score of 146, GRE Quantitative Reasoning score of 146, GRE Analytical Writing score of 3.0.
Annual Tuition: $6,264 in-state, $20,933 out-of-state.
Mayo School of Health Sciences
A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is required for admission to the DPT degree program. A minimum of 40 hours of observation or work experience in varied physical therapy settings is needed. 100 hours is preferred.
Applicants must have at least a 3.0 cumulative undergraduate GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and a 3.0 or better prerequisite GPA and complete the general test component of the GRE. A grade of D is unacceptable in any prerequisite course.
Annual Tuition: $97,367 for full program. 133 credits in the program; $710 per credit.
University of North Florida
A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is required for admission to the DPT degree program. Required 3.0 GPA or higher in all work attempted as an upper-level student, science prerequisite GPA and non-science prerequisite GPAs minimum of 3.0, completion of all science and math prerequisite coursework within 7 years prior to application (online courses are not accepted for: anatomy courses, physiology courses, physics courses, or chemistry courses).
A grade of B or higher in each course (a grade of a B- is not acceptable) is required. GRE scores, including the analytical writing portion, are required. The minimum analytical writing score is 3.5. Competitive Verbal and Quantitative scores should be around 152. Minimum of 80 hours of observation under the direct supervision of physical therapists in a variety of settings should be completed.
Verification documentation should be submitted to PTCAS. Two letters of recommendation from a course instructor or academic adviser (at least one) and a licensed physical therapist (at least one) are required and should be submitted through the PTCAS evaluation system.
Annual Tuition: $10,861 in-state, $22,977 out-of-state.
Old Dominion University
A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is required for admission to the DPT degree program. Applicants must complete all prerequisite courses before the start of the program. Three letters of recommendation are needed, one of them from a physical therapist.
Show evidence of 80 hours of work in two or more different Physical Therapy settings by completing the form in PTCAS. The hours can be paid or volunteer. GRE scores are required as well (submitted through PTCAS).
Annual Tuition: $11,904 in-state, $29,976 out-of-state.
University of Wisconsin – Madison
A bachelor’s degree must be completed. A grade of C or higher is required for each prerequisite course. GRE scores must be submitted through PTCAS. Minimum required scores; verbal: 144, quantitative: 144, writing: 3.5. Overall GPA of at least 3.0 and science GPA of at least 3.0, calculated by PTCAS is needed. Three recommendation letters are required, one needed from a physical therapist.
Annual Tuition: $11,988 in-state, $25,314 out-of-state.
University of Southern California
A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is required. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and a minimum science GPA of 3.0 is needed and a minimum score of 150 on each aptitude test sent by PTCAS.
A minimum of 150 hours of clinical experience in a physical therapy setting is required. Grades of C or better is required in all prerequisite courses.
Three letters of recommendation are required: a physical therapist who has directly supervised the applicant, professor or academic reference who has taught the applicant, physical therapist supervisor.
Annual Tuition: $44,013.
University of Indianapolis
A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university and cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is required. GRE scores should be sent to PTCAS. Three recommendations, including one from a physical therapist, are required. Prerequisite coursework should be completed with a grade of at least a C in each course and a minimum prerequisite GPA of 3.0 (B).
Annual Tuition: $36,102.
