GRE preparation for full-time/part-time service holders

Hello readers, we met again with a oven-fresh article.

In my last article I have discussed that how students should prepare for their GRE. They get many chances to prepare that a job-holder cannot have. However, there are many job-holders, full-time or part-time, who do very well in tests like GRE even after having very less times to prepare for them. We have discussed that GRE/GMAT – they are nothing but games of skills and concentration. Therefore, when someone is really skilled in reasoning, both in verbal and quantitative, doing jobs won’t prevent them to have a good score in GRE or any other tests like that. All they have to do is just spend a little time in a day to practice their already inherent or acquired skills. that way they will be more and more skilled day by day and their brain will be as sharp as ever.

However, there are also those who are not that skilled, yet still they want to sit for GRE and get a competitive score. For these candidates, there may also be some ways. In this article, I would like to explain how a full-time/part-time job holder can go through with their GRE preparation.

For a proper segmentation of this article, I have divided this whole article into four segments such as:

  1. Full-time job holder with reasoning skills
  2. Part-time job holders with reasoning skills
  3. Full-time job holders without reasoning skills
  4. Part-time job holders without reasoning skills

Let us now discuss the whole topic one by one:

Full-time job holder with reasoning skills

There are a lot of full-time job-holders who do a lot of intensive brain-storming by means of their full-time job. Some of these professions may be Researchers, Engineers, Professors etc. There are also a lot of other professionals who do a huge amount of data analysis and research works such as: Investment Specialist, Credit Analyst, Investigative Journalists and others as such. These are the professions where the employee will have to go though a hard-core level of research and analytical works. Therefore their reasoning skills are always on top notch, for the sake of the survival of their career and livelihood.

All they have to do is spend some times in a day for practicing as well as revising their already acquired skills. Let us notice a “Sample Routine” that I have provided below which I made for myself (as I consider myself as one of this category candidate), even though it is hard to follow this routine, still, it never hurts to try for a change.

Sample Routine – That I made for myself (click here the get it).

It is not mandatory to follow the routine exactly step by step and letter by letter. It is also not mandatory to follow a routine at all, if you have got this covered. However, keeping a well-defined schedule of work is very helpful, specially in case of keeping up a full-time job as well as preparing for an intense test like GRE.

Part-time job holder with reasoning skills

There are also many part-time job holders who do constantly research works as well as intense analysis such as Freelance Data Analyst and.others as such. They not only have ample chances to prepare but also have enough opportunities to hone on their skills of reasoning.

There is nothing much particular to talk about their skill enhancement. They may follow the routine I have attached above with a slight modification of their own.

This is actually quite interesting to learn that these categories are the most persistent ones. They know that they are not skilled enough to sit for GRE, nevertheless, they are still interested to not only sit for GRE but also keep an intention to obtain a competitive score. Despite I have a lot of respects for these group of people, I would like to suggest them that they should think about their choice of sitting for GRE once more. Because GRE is all about dedication and those who don’t have enough reasoning skills and work in sectors where creativity or reasoning skills come to die, they may find it extremely difficult to maintain their grit to go through with it till the end. That being said, I would like to point out some things to them:

  • You must be sure of GRE, otherwise you won’t be able to continue for long.
  • If you dive into it with full heart, there is still a chance that you may find it difficult to continue. Because apart from the pressure of continuing a full-time job, you are also taking extra loads of getting into GRE curriculum at your own volition. This may pose some extra hard-ship at the beginning of your preparation. However, if you can overcome it and be able to go through it, there is nothing that can resist you and your preparation in any way possible.
  • As you dont have much time in a day to practice GRE in a full swing, please take advice from some mentors and/or be under their supervision, specially as long as your preparation is up to a certain point  and your confidence level boosts up at a certain stage.
  • Do not go through the main curriculum at the beginning, improve your reasoning skills first. To do that, please read my early articles and then get on with it.

Please remember that you have to utilize your time to the fullest. Or there is no point of even beginning the preparation in the first place. The routine that I have prepared above may not be enough for you, in a sense that you also may have to have some study sessions in between your job pr professional activities. However, if that is impossible for you to continue, then you must utilize the time you have spare to the fullest.

The advice is pretty much same as I have done for the above group. However, the only difference here is that you may have to put some extra efforts than that of the previous group, as you guyz have some extra times at your hands. You may go though some online resources like Magoosh or Manhattan and try for the tests they have to judge yourself. Then according to the assessment, you may allocate your time of preparation.

That’s it for today. in my next article (about GRE), we will see how candidates of a particular third-world country can prepare for GRE.

TILL THEN, HAPPY READING!!!
