Hi guy’s! This is my first episode to share some information regarding top universities to study physics.
Although there are a lot of subjects to study to create pathway for a lucrative career, Physics is still a
subject that attracts a significant number of student to make contribution to society and mankind as a
subject of fundamental science and put own name beside Sir Isaac Newton, Galileo Galilei or Albert
Einstein. Starting from Maxwell’s Electromagnetic Theory to String Theory, Quantum Field Theory to
General Relativity, High Energy Physics to Condensed Matter Physics- there are a lot of exciting and
wonderful research fields are active in universities worldwide as mainstream research science. In this
article we will try to categorize some world’s best universities based on their research activity.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)

Even though it is an Institute of Technology, MIT is still ranked one university with best research facility
on Physics. It has research facility both on Theoretical and Experimental sector. There are four key
research area MIT provides with more than one hundred Faculty Members included several Nobel
Laureates like Rainer Weiss, Frank Wilczek, Wolfgang Ketterle. Astrophysics; Atomic, Biophysics, Plasma
Physics and Condensed Matter Physics; Experimental Nuclear and Particle Physics; Theoretical Nuclear
and Particle Physic, all these research areas of MIT are somehow collaborated with world top research
institutes. Like Astrophysics research department is collaborated with Laser Interferometer
Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIOG) that deals with Gravitational Wave detection, Experimental

Harvard University

Our next choice is to cradle up with Harvard. People are familiar with Harvard as having Best Business
School in the world, but it is also interesting that Harvard University has world’s top Physics School with
advanced research facility. Besides experimental facility on Astrophysics, Molecular Physics, Biophysics-
Harvard has strong theoretical research facility on High Energy Physics/String Theory. If someone want
to meet with Howard Georgi, writer of famous Lie Algebra Textbook that teach world wide as graduate
physics textbook- one can visit Harvard. In 2005 Harvard Physicist Roy J. Glauber earned Nobel Prize in
Physics for his contribution to the quantum theory of optical coherence. There are also some other
Physicist from Harvard such as Norman F. Ramsey, Carlo Rubbia who have earned Nobel Prize.
Interested people to have a research specialty on Mathematical Physics also are invited to make a try

This is the university costs highest in the world. Although a degree from Stanford costs higher than any
other university of the world- it worth value. With a limiting acceptance rate below ten percent Stanford
offers world’s best graduate research facility on physics, especially theoretical physics. Stanford Institute
for Theoretical Physics has some giants like Andrei Linde. Being a founder of String Theory, Leonard
Susskind is still active as an academic of Stanford. Experimental and Observational Astrophysics and

University of Cambridge

Founded in 1209 Cambridge is England’s second oldest university with huge historical facts. Under age
old famous Cavendish Laboratory, Physics department of Cambridge University has fifteen research
groups. Some of those are relatively new and pioneering to world like- Microelectronics,
Optoelectronics, Nano-Photonics, Quantum Matter (deals with new physical properties not described by
the standard models of solid state physics.), and Quantum Sensors etc. Under High Energy Physics
research group Cambridge University have research collaboration with ATLAS experiment of CERN, LHCb
for CP violation and b-quark physics, Neutrino Physics experiment with Fermilab. Cambridge is also

Caltech

Again this is another Technology based Institute. Under the division of Physics, Mathematics and
Astrophysics, Caltech has one of the world’s best research facilities. Rather than other research facility
Caltech is one of the pioneers to Cosmology and Gravitational Wave Astronomy. It has collaboration to
BICEP and Keck Array and also Planck observatory on measuring Cosmic Microwave Background
radiation and primordial gravitational wave signals from birth of the universe placed at South Pole.

University of Oxford

Department of Physics at Oxford University has a comprehensive research facility. Built in 1096 Oxford
University is the oldest university of England. In its diverse research sectors Oxford has facility of
Condensed Matter Physics, Astrophysics, Atomic and Laser Physics, Atmospheric, Oceanic and Planetary
Physics, and especially Rudolf Peierls Centre for Theoretical Physics. With the intellectual vain Oxford
