Established on June 10, 1963, The University of Central Florida (UCF) is one of the nation’s largest public coeducational universities is located in Orlando, Florida with a Campus size of 1,415 acres. The university is listed in the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching for a very high research activity.
Initially known as Florida Technological University it was later renamed as the University of Central Florida in 1978. It is the largest university in Florida and the second-largest in the United States. The school has got an acceptance rate of 43 percent making it a more selective school. It follows a semester-based academic calendar.

Colleges of University of Central Florida
The university currently has twelve colleges with College of Health and Public Affairs ceasing to exist in 2018. The university offers over 220 majors in bachelor’s, masters and doctoral programs. The College of Sciences, the College of Business Administration and the College of Health and Public Affairs are the three largest undergraduate sectors by enrollment.

1. College of Business Administration-Established in 1968, College of Business Administration is the business school of the University of Central Florida that offers majors in accounting, economics, finance, marketing, business administration, management, real estate, and taxation. Bachelors, masters, doctoral and executive levels degrees are offered by the college. The newest program that was recently introduced in the school is a Master of Science in Real Estate.

2. The College of Arts and Humanities– Established in 2005, The College of Arts and Humanities at the University of Central Florida was earlier known as College of Arts and Science before being split into the college of Arts and Humanities and College of Sciences.

College of Education and Human Performance– Opened initially as College of Education in 1968 it was later renamed as College of Education and Human Performance due to the varied degree programs that it offered. Apart from offering 14 undergraduate degree options, 63 graduate degree options and 11 minors, it also offers two undergraduate certificates and 23 graduate certificates.

College of Engineering and Computer Science– The College of Engineering and Computer Science, one of the premier schools in the United States for its engineering degree is the academic college of the University of Central Florida founded in 1966. The college is ranked No. 75 in Best Engineering Schools and is also recognized as one of the nation’s best engineering schools and one of the best in the world. The university is known for its significant research contributions to engineering and computer science, modeling and simulation, and digital media.
The College of Engineering and Computer Science is comprised of the following departments: Civil, Environmental, and Construction Engineering (CECE), Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (EECS), Industrial Engineering & Management Systems (IEMS) and Mechanical, Materials, & Aerospace Engineering (MMAE)

5. College of Graduate Studies– Named as Division of Graduate Studies initially, the colleges named got changed to the college of Graduate Studies in 2008 (its founding year) by the University of Central Florida’s Board of Trustees to better reflect the school’s responsibilities for graduate education. Professional and research master’s degrees and doctoral degrees are conferred by the college in various fields of study. As of now, 120 graduate degrees are offered by the college.

6. College of Medicine– Founded in 2006, the College of Medicine is situated in the Health Sciences campus in Lake Nona Medical City. The college consists of a public medical school and the Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences
Bachelors, graduate and professional degrees in five distinct programs are currently offered by the college in Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medicine and Molecular Biology and Microbiology.

7. College of Nursing– Established in 1978 it is ranked among the best in the nation and recognized by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, the school of Nursing became the College of Nursing in 2007. Bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels degree programs are offered both online and on-campus at the UFC.

8. College of Optics and Photonics-The College of Optics and Photonics is one of the world’s foremost institutions for research and education in optical and photonic science that was founded in 2004. From its inception till 2012 it was the only college in UFC that offered only Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Optics. The college started offering undergraduate programs from 2013.

9. Rosen College of Hospitality Management– Ranked 5 in the top five hospitality schools in the world and with 3,500 students, the college is one of that started in 1983. The success rate is also the largest and fastest-growing hospitality programs in the nation. The College is home to Florida’s first stand-alone Ph.D. program in Hospitality Management high with more than 90% of Rosen College students earn full-time jobs upon graduation.

10. College of Sciences– Established in 2005, earlier the college of science used to be joint with the college of arts become being separated into having its own college. It consists of two divisions: the Division of Natural Sciences which consists of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, and Actuarial Sciences and the Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences which comprises Anthropology, Communication, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology. It provides 23 Bachelor’s, 15 Master’s and 12 Doctoral degree programs.

11. College of Undergraduate Studies- Established in 2015, the College of Undergraduate Studies offers major in Interdisciplinary Studies (B.A./B.S.) and Environmental Studies (B.A.)

12. The Burnett Honors College- established in 1998, University Honors and Honors in the Major are two distinct Honors programs that The Burnett Honors College offers to its students. University Honors which is a 4-year program offered to incoming freshmen and Honors in the Major is a two-year program designed for the junior and senior students to undertake original and independent research in their major field which is later lead in writing a thesis.
